President Ashraf Ghani arrived in the capital of southern Kandahar on Thursday morning to discuss the security situation with local officials.
Heading a high-level delegation, Ghani would confer on the situation in the province with Governor Hayatullah Hayat and other officials, said the governor’s spokesman.
Bahir Ahmad told Pajhwok Afghan News the president would also hold meetings with people from different parts of the province during his visit.
Ghani’s trip to Kandahar comes in the wake of worsening security in Arghandab, Zherai and Panjwayee districts.
