Gen. Zia hits back at Iran NSA over controversial tweet
Afghanistan Army Chief Gen. Yasin Zia on Thursday hit back at Iran’s National Security Advisor Ali Shamkhani over his tweet hailing Taliban’s commitment to fighting the US in the region.
Ali Shamkhani after meeting a Taliban delegation in his tweet said: “After spending 13 years in Guantanamo Bay Prison, the Taliban head of political office is still committed to fighting the US in the region.”
Hitting back at Iran NSA Shamkhani, Zia said: “Your understanding of the Afghan conflict is not correct. The Taliban are not fighting the US but the people of Afghanistan.”
Presidential Advisor Shah HussainMustafavi in his twitter account said: “The Taliban did not fire at the US during the past one year, so their determination to fight should not be hailed.”
