Taliban’s largest ‘command and control center’ falls to gov’t forces
Ministry of Defense in a released statement on Tuesday said that Afghan commandos conquered and captured the Taliban’s largest command and control center in a raid in Nangarhar province.
Afghan commandos were successful to capture the Taliban’s command and control center during an operation conducted in Hesarak district in eastern Nangarhar, the statement read.
Taliban used this center to control “terrorist activities” in eastern zones of Afghanistan specifically in Nangarhar province, MoD stated.
According to MoD, Afghan commandos also seized weapons, ammunition, and some amount of Hashish (Drug) belonging to the Taliban.
Nangarhar province is one of the insecure regions located in eastern Afghanistan, besides Taliban other militant groups like Daesh are also active in some parts of the area.
This comes as the Ministry of Defense stated that 20 Taliban fighters were killed and two others were wounded in Shahwali Kot and Arghandab districts of Kandahar.
Afghan national defense and security forces also seized one vehicle, eight motorbikes, and five various types of weapons during the operation, the Ministry of Defense stated.
MoD added, that 32 mines planted and placed by the Taliban were also discovered and defused.
