Russian, Indian NSAs set to meet on Afghanistan
India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is all poised to meet his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev on the situation in Afghanistan today (Wednesday).
The political, security, and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan would figure at the meeting in New Delhi, the Asia News International reported.
The Taliban takeover and the announcement of the new “Islamic Emirate” government will also come up for discussion, the news agency said.
The Russian NSA will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on matters of bilateral and regional interest.
Inter-governmental consultations on Afghanistan will be attended by the NSAs and representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence and security agencies.
Doval and Patrushev will review activities of terrorist groups, the drug scourge, Indo-Russia cooperation on warding off common threats and measures to assist Afghanistan.
