India hailed as Afghanistan’s privileged partner
India has been a valuable partner of Afghanistan and its people over the decades, says an Afghan diplomat.
Ambassador Farid Mamundzay hailed Indo-Afghan friendship while addressing an event in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Supported by the India-Afghanistan Foundation, the Gandhi-Bacha Khan week is currently being celebrated.
ANI news agency quoted the envoy as commending robust people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
The event in Delhi marked the 132nd birth anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, famously known as Frontier Gandhi.
Born on February 6, 1890, principles of Bacha Khan and Gandhi brought together pillars of action, peace and promotion of human rights,” the ambassador said.
He called for supporting Afghanistan to invest in the protection of human rights, women empowerment and strengthening of civil society.
“The two leaders can be a powerful engine for the international community in building partnerships and creating conditions for an inclusive government,” he remarked.
