Pakistan PM seeks urgent aid for Afghans
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has underlined the need for the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to the Afghan people.
At the end of a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Sharif issued the call at a meeting with Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha in Makkah.
The Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad said Sharif affirmed his government’s commitment to promoting the interests of the Muslim ummah.
He urged the OIC to launch concerted efforts to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque and other occupied Palestinian territories.
Sharif emphasised on the major Islamic bloc to ramp up its efforts to counter Islamophobia at the international level.
The OIC chief renewed the grouping’s support to the people of Afghanistan, Palestine and Kashmir.
