India Worried As BNP Rise To Power Set To Reactivate Hibernating Jihadi Groups – OpEd
India calls out US for destabilizing Hasina under garb of “transformative power of collective action”
The recent statement of US Senator Ben Cardin, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, hailing the ‘coup’ against the democratically-elected leader of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina as “transformative power of collective action”, is a confirmation of the American role in destabilizing Bangladesh. This statement is also a parallel move to ensure that the massive Bangladeshi population in Britain do not create further unrest in Britain, giving credence to the theory that CIA always acts in tandem with British intelligence outfit MI 6.
The Great Game has commenced. America has again succeeded in overthrowing a democratically elected regime for achieving their aim of dominating the Ocean & the larger plan of disintegrating India. In fact, the US has had no “qualms” in destabilising any country for its “selfish interests”, with Washington having time and again been guilty of backing “radicals” in power in various regions at different points of history.
The US has called for supporting freedom of speech for protesters, which in a way reeks of hypocrisy, given how the Biden administration has suppressed pro-Palestine voices in their own backyard. The demand for quota reforms had already been met. There was really no reason to make a demand for ousting the Prime Minister, say Indian intelligence agencies.
Hasina has repeatedly alleged that the US and its allies were seeking to carve out a Christian state from parts of Myanmar and Bangladesh. Moreover, the US might be looking at a situation where they would be able to exploit the instability in the region for their own strategic needs. Foreign policy experts in India have repeatedly blamed the CIA for fuelling instability in Manipur through abetting the Christian Kuki community to openly challenge the majority Meitei community. Unrest in the remote state of Manipur has continued unabated since the incidents of violence that broke out after the rape and murder of a Kuki woman.
Going forward, we can well see the Bangladeshi military playing a more active political role. They have good relations with western partners, including the US. We might be looking at a picture similar to Pakistan, where the military relationship with both the US and China would be strong.
It is pertinent to point out that the last time Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)-Jamaat were in power back in the 2000s, they were accused of fuelling insurgency in India’s north-east. The western countries have made no secret in their backing of BNP leaders like Khaleda Zia’s son Tarique Zia, currently in London and openly calling for Hasina’s ouster. Zia is BNP’s Acting President who has been accused of “masterminding” the deadly violence in the country.
There is reason to believe that the Chinese MSS , US CIA & Britain’s MI 6 work in unison. If this were not to be true, why would the US have allowed its largest companies to make multi-billion dollar investments in China ? Why is it that they have sparingly condemned China for the Ughiyur suppression ? Why is it that they have not faced any major terror attacks from radical Islamic outfits post 9/11 ?
Incidentally, Islamic Jihadi outfits are committing atrocities & killings primarily in Muslim dominated countries by overthrowing the regimes and leading the countries to complete devastation & ruin. Iraq , Syria , Palestine , Libya , Afghanistan & now Bangladesh are leading examples.
Bangladesh’s interim government Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has made his first post from a new account on social media platform X as the country’s acting leader, thanking Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for his support to Dhaka. Reports in the Press say that Yunus has even warned India with unrest and protests in NE India if “Bangladesh remains unstable”. Political analysts say that Yunus along with Tariq Rehman of BNP , masterminded the ‘India Out’ campaign in Bangladesh and may initiate further unrest by fuelling militancy & anarchy with inside support of few Indian political parties associated with George Soros.
One of the options available before India is to activate the Awami league cadres under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wajed to counter threats by this interim govt & BNP. If BNP gains full power, it is likely to reactivate hibernated Jehadi groups like Ansar al-Islam, Lashkar-e- Toiba, Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen etc who have operated from Bangladeshi soil & had significant influence in South India. It is an established fact that Daesh (ISIS) and Al Qaeda are mercenaries reportedly created by the West.
The deep state of America is using these forces against India to harm our growing economy. India now has to keep a close eye on the funding of these outfits, the availability of weapons to them and the growth in their cadres to be able to preempt any strike. The intelligence network in the northeast also needs to be strengthened. ISIS-K is currently arrayed against Iran and Russia. ISIS–K seeks to destabilize and replace current governments within the historic Khorasan region with the goal of establishing a caliphate across South and Central Asia, governed under a strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law, which they plan to expand beyond the region.
India has made it clear to the US that it has no hegemonic designs but will not be a spectator to any type of assault on its territorial integrity. It has also conveyed deep concern over the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh and conveyed that if the situation does not normalise, it will become an international issue.
Over 7,200 Indian students returned to India in the weeks leading up to August 1 due to the situation in Bangladesh, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Thursday. MoS External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said around 19,000 Indian citizens, including over 9,000 students, are still in Bangladesh. The minister said that the fate of religious minorities in Bangladesh remains a major worry for New Delhi.
Hindus make up about 8% of Bangladesh’s population of 170 million. They have traditionally generally supported Hasina’s Awami League party, which identifies as largely secular, instead of the opposition bloc that includes a hard-line Islamist party.
India shares a porous 4,100-kilometer-long (2,500-mile) border with Bangladesh. New Delhi has long been concerned about human trafficking, infiltration and terrorist activities along the frontier, particularly as Bangladesh borders the Indian eastern and northeastern states of West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram, which are prone to violent insurgencies. So far, New Delhi was able to rely on the Hasina administration to ensure these security risks were kept in check.
Meanwhile, intelligence agencies in India are keeping a tab on the presence of several western funded NGOs in Bangladesh, including BRAC. India knows well that in the garb of creating opportunities on human rights & social empowerment, the NGO has its tentacles dug deep into the border districts of India and Bangladesh, thereby creating an unprecedented security threat.
The resurgence of radical forces led by Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh’s polity cannot be good news for India, as these groups are known to have opposed the Liberation Movement and have been responsible for propagating anti-India sentiment, including the recent one calling for economic boycott of Indian products.
