Pakistani airstrikes target Taliban military sites in Kandahar – Sources

Pakistani airstrikes have targeted three Taliban military sites in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan, according to sources familiar with the attacks, as cross-border fighting between Pakistan and the Taliban entered its seventh day.

Sources told Amu TV that the strikes hit the Taliban’s air brigade, the third battalion of the Taliban border police, and the 205 Al-Badr Corps, a major Taliban military formation in the province.

Separately, sources in Kandahar said Pakistani strikes in parts of Spin Boldak district killed four people, including three women. The sources also reported renewed flights of Pakistani aircraft over the district.

The Taliban have not publicly commented on the reported strikes or the civilian casualties.

The latest attacks come as tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban continue to escalate along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Taliban officials have claimed that more than 150 Pakistani soldiers have been killed since the clashes began. Pakistan, for its part, has claimed that its operations have killed more than 350 Taliban members. Those claims could not be independently verified.
