US commends Uzbekistan’s role in Afghanistan

Uzbekistan is playing a key role in support of the Afghan people, says the US special representative for Afghanistan.

Thomas West tweeted: “Important humanitarian hub in Termez; Tashkent continues to provide Afghanistan with electricity.”

Wrapping up his two-day trip to the Central Asian country, the diplomat noted the Uzbek leadership engaging the Taliban on terrorism, human rights and stability.

His visit to Tashkent had been productive, said the US diplomat, who appreciated Uzbekistan’s vision for the region.

West hoped the US partnership with Uzbekistan would continue and grow. “Had a productive two days in Tashkent.”
