India says open to any peace move towards Pakistan

India will take any statement from Pakistan towards peace between the two countries seriously, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday. She also stated that the security forces will “fully honour” the ceasefire announced by the government.

“Any comment on wanting peace will definitely be taken seriously,” Ms. Sitharaman told presspersons on the sidelines of a seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

These comments come in the backdrop of Pakistan Army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa’s call last month for peaceful resolution of disputes, including Kashmir, through talks.
