Afghanistan armed forces kill 24 insurgents in raids
At least 24 militants were killed and 6 wounded in military offensives carried out by Afghan security forces within the past day.
The defense ministry in a statement said that Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security launched joint operations against insurgents in different areas in Ghazni, Logar, Helmand, Nimroz, Kunar, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Faryab, Baghlan, Herat, Sar-e Pul and Badakhshan provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 24 insurgents were killed and six others wounded.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, seven insurgents were killed in Achin and Khogyani districts of Nangarhar, seven insurgents were killed and two others were wounded in Nad Ali and Garmser districts of Helmand, five insurgents were killed and four others were wounded in Shahjoy district of Zabul, five insurgents affiliated with Haqani Network were killed in Gomal district of Paktika.
In past 24 hours, 17 planed clearing operations, and 103 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 118 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including six strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
