Residents say drones patrolled Kabul for second straight night

Residents of Kabul say drones were seen patrolling the skies over the capital for a second consecutive night, following airstrikes by fighter jets late last week.

According to local accounts gathered by Amu TV, the drones flew over several areas of the city and remained in the air until the early hours of the morning. The origin of the drones is still unknown, and the Taliban have not commented on the incidents.

Witnesses and local sources previously reported that drones and aircraft were heard over Kabul shortly after airstrikes were carried out Thursday night. The buzzing sound of engines was intermittently audible across the city.

On Thursday night, Pakistani fighter jets bombed locations in Kabul. Source said the operation targeted Noor Wali Mehsud, leader of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the TTP. Mehsud is a key figure in the militant group, which Islamabad accuses of orchestrating deadly attacks across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Taliban confirmed the airstrikes had taken place and said an investigation was underway. However, neither the Taliban nor Pakistani officials have confirmed whether Mehsud was killed or injured in the attack.

The airstrikes come amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as Islamabad continues to accuse militant groups of using Afghan territory to launch cross-border attacks. In recent months, Pakistan has stepped up pressure on the Taliban government to take action against groups like the TTP.
