Arghandab district to be purge of Taliban soon: Gen. Tadin
Thirty-six militants have been killed and five others injured during security forces operation in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Sunday.
Lt. Col. Khwaja Yahya Alvi, spokesperson for 205th Atal Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan Air Force targeted these militants in the Kohak, Joai Lahori and Bolan Dasht localities.
He said these insurgents gathered to launch attacks against security forces. Security forces have recovered some weapons and ammunition during the operation, he added.
According to security forces have recovered 30 landmines in the Zharai, Arghandab and Maiwand districts and defused them
The Taliban have not spoken about security forces operation and casualties inflicted on them.
According to security officials majority areas of Arghandab had been cleared from insurgents.
Police Chief Gen. Tadin Khan said the Taliban would purged of the entire district in days to come and life would return to normalcy.
