6 security personnel killed, 4 wounded in Zabul insider attack
Six security personnel in a check-post have been killed and four others wounded in an in insider attack on Zabul-Kandahar highway while a National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel was killed and two other were wounded in southwestern Daikundi province, officials said Monday.
A security source in southern Zabul province, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place on Sunday night in the Pul-i-Sangi area on the Qalat-Kandahar highway.
The source added a policeman with links to Taliban killed six security personnel and wounded four others. Three other security force members have disappeared as a result of the overnight attack, the source said.
“Taliban insurgents also took away weapons and ammunitions from the check-post,” the official revealed.
However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
Separately, local officials in central Daikundi province said that an intelligence personnel was killed and two others wounded in a clash with the Taliban.
Mohammad Ali Urozgani, deputy governor of Daikundi told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban attacked an NDS post in Ispar village of Pato district on Sunday night.
He added that the clash continued till Monday morning and resulted in the death of one NDS personnel and wounding two others.
