Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham in an interview with CBS has said that the American troops will not leave Afghanistan in May, supporting the Biden administration’s stance on Afghanistan and its bid to review the US-Taliban agreement.

The first clashes took place in Aab Kamari district of the province after a group of Taliban attacked a security outpost. At least six security force members were killed and six others were wounded in two separate Taliban attacks in Badghis province on Sunday night, a local official said.

In an interview with France24 on Monday, Saleh stated: “At least 500 foreign terrorists largely affiliated with al-Qaeda are fighting alongside Taliban in Afghanistan.”

US Senator Lindsey Graham said Sunday night that American troops will stay on in Afghanistan and only leave when the conditions are right. In an interview with CBS News, Graham, a Republican senator, said: “I’m very pleased with what the Biden administration is proposing for Afghanistan. We’re going to keep troops there on a conditions-based approach.”

At least eight members of the Afghan security forces were killed and two more wounded in clashes with Taliban militants in Badghis and Ghor provinces, sources said Monday.

Kabul police on Sunday confirmed two explosions were reported in the capital leaving at least two people wounded. The first explosion took place in PD9 and the second in PD12 of Kabul city.

Amid uncertainty surrounding their peace pact with the United States, the Taliban have curtailed their winter break from fighting, an American media outlet reported on Saturday.
