33 Daesh suspects detained in Kabul, Nangarhar

A group leader was among 33 Islamic State (IS) suspects intelligence forces detained in central Kabul and eastern Nangarhar provinces, the spy service said Monday.

In a statement, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said its special unit arrested 26 Daesh members during separate raids in Kabul. Headed by Abdullah, the insugennts were planning suicide attacks in Kabul city, the NDS statement claimed.

The Islamic State (IS) rebels had come to Kabul from different provinces and wanted to conduct suicide attacks in Kabul during Muharram and Ashura days.

Separately, seven Islamic State (IS) members had been arrested in eastern Nangarhar province during the past one weeek, said the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani.

They were arrested in Jalalabad, Bati Kot, Behsud, Khogyani and Rudat districts.

Khogyani said the arrested insurgents had acknowledged their crimes and their cases would be sent to judicial organs for further investigation.
