6 rebels killed, 8 wounded in Zabul clashes

Six Taliban insurgents were killed and eight others wounded during clashes with security forces in southern Zabul province, police said on Sunday.

Police chief Col. Mohammad Mustafa Mayar told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants attacked police check-posts in Arghandab district on Saturday night.

He said three rebels were killed and as many wounded in the ensuing firefight. He identified the slain Taliban as Mullah Atiq, Mullah Javed and Mullah Bashir

Separately in the same district, three Taliban gunmen were killed and five others wounded in a clash with security forces, the police chief said.

The Taliban also claimed killing eight soldiers and wounding several others in Arghandab clashes.
