Daesh finance manager captured in Jalalabad
Six insurgents, including Daesh’s finance manager, have been captured in eastern Nangarhar province, an official claimed on Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Islamic State’s finance chief in Afghanistan, was arrested in Jalalabad.
He said the arrest came during an overnight operation by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel in Bezakamalati area of Jalalabad’s fourth police district. Three other suspects were also nabbed.
The detainee, who is blind, was allegedly involved in propaganda against the Afghan government and recruitment to the militant group.
Khogyani said the NDS operatives also captured two Taliban fighters in Jalalabad and Torkham Township.
One of the detainees is a resident of Hesarak district currently residing in Pakistan, and the other from Kunar province.
The detainees had confessed to their crimes, the gubernatorial spokesman said.
Neither of the rebel outfits has commented yet on the arrests.
