Kandahar: 9 police killed in insider attack

Nine policemen have been killed in an insider attack in the Arghandab district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.

The nine policemen were killed on Sunday night in an insider attack on a check-post in the Sarkari Bagh area of Arghandab district.

Jamal Nasir Barakzai, spokesman for Kandahar police, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok Afghan News and said further details would be shared later.

A security source, meanwhile, confided to Pajhwok that a member of 01 Unit had killed nine of his colleagues manning the checkpoint.

The source revealed the attacker was a member of the Taliban movement. Without going into details, he said the attacker was killed.

Taliban have not commented on the incident so far.
