One of those killed was Paghman elder Malik Murtaza, whose two bodyguards were also killed in an attack by armed men in Kabul.
One of those killed was Paghman elder Malik Murtaza, whose two bodyguards were also killed in an attack by armed men in Kabul’s Qargha area on Sunday evening. His family called on the government to find the perpetrators.
Unidentified armed men attacked Malik Murtaza’s vehicle in the west of Kabul.
“They will kill my other son the next day, and another the coming day. What should we do? We cannot do anything to them. The government can,” said Bibi Aqila, Malik Murtaza’s mother.
“We have no solution. How long should this oppression continue?” asked Mustafa, Murtaza’s brother.
Two others were killed in the Panjsad family area in the north of Kabul on Sunday evening. The Interior Affairs Ministry said an investigation is underway into the two incidents. One of the men killed was a doctor.
“It happened in PD11. Two were killed and one of them was my brother,” said Mahboobullah, the brother of a victim.
“They are claiming every day that they will ensure the safety of the people but they have failed,” said Abdul Wase, a Kabul resident.
Meanwhile, some civil society activists at a gathering in Kabul decried the increase in security incidents in the city.
“If it continues like this–democracy, freedom of speech and civil and human rights will be in danger,” said Ismail Mashal, a university lecturer.
Reports indicate that two NDS personnel were killed in two separate incidents in Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior Affairs posted a video on Monday, saying it is from one of the three suspects who were arrested on charges of killing Yusuf Rasheed, civil society activist and head of the Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan.
The suspect says that they were sent from Logar by a Taliban commander to plot the attack on Rasheed.
