2 killed, 5 wounded as series of blasts rock Kabul

The Jamiat-i-Islah party head was among two people killed in a series of blasts that injured five others in different parts of Kabul on Tuesday.

The first blast injured two people while targeting a vehicle of the counter-narcotics department in Joy Shir area of the 2nd police district.

Police spokesman FirdosFaramarz said the blast took place at around 7:35am. He said two individual were injured and evacuated to hospital.

A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok the vehicle belonged to the Ministry of Interior’s counter-narcotics department.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and two others wounded in another explosion in SaleemKarwan area of the 4th police district.

Without elaborating, Faramarz said two people were killed in the blast.

But a source in Jamiat-i-Islah party told Pajhwok that Dr. Mohammad Atif ,head of the association, was among the dead.

A police official, who declined to be named, said the victims of the second blast were civilians.

A third blast happened in ArzanQimat area in limits of the 12th police district. However, information about casualties was not immediately available.

The fourth blast injured one individual in Nawabad area of 3rd police district. The blast hit a corolla vehicle at around 10:27am.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the bombings in the nation’s capital.
