Is Imran Khan A New Trojan Horse For Pakistan? – OpEd

The Trojan Horse virus is kind of a malware that downloads onto a computer disguised as a legitimate program. The delivery method typically sees an attacker use social engineering to hide malicious code within legitimate software to try and gain user’s system access with their software. The same concept is applicable for some Individuals who portray themselves to be the saviors of people but on the other hand they are actually involved in infecting people’s minds by spreading malicious propaganda.

Such political Trojan Horses try to stay in power all the time and use social engineering to gain a populist image. In case of Pakistan’s political environment, a new political Trojan Horse virus has emerged on the scene. This politician behaving like a virus is trying to hijack the national machinery for his personal interests. He is none other than the ousted Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan.

Since his ousting through a purely constitutional process the former PM has tried his best to regain power but so far despite all the ruckus, he and his party created it has gone in vain. In the process of doing so different gimmicks he used many tactics, firstly he viciously trumpeted the term of foreign conspiracy against him that badly failed to convince people. First the National Security Council and then the Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected the claim and buried it forever.

Throughout, the PTI leadership followed a non-linear approach and all its claims were stumped by presentation of facts from all the stakeholders domestically as well as internationally. Soon after that Imran Khan used his key members such as Shahbaz Gill, Fawad Chaudry & Shireen Mazari to malign the institution as an attempt to damage the national fabric so to build pressure on the government. That attempt also failed as legal action was taken against the culprits upon crossing the constitutional boundaries. After all these failures, Imran Khan considered himself to play the same role, take things in his own hands and spared no efforts in spreading hatred against institutions, with sole aim to spread anarchy in the state and follow the support of his blind devotees who are now decreasing with time after exposing of lies and fake rhetoric.

This political maneuver, full of Illusions and delusions needs to be buried for a better political discourse in the country. Ongoing catastrophic situation due to devastating floods warrant a whole of the nation approach. All political parties until build consensus and work together to deal with flood crisis, people of Pakistan will continue to suffer and their core problems will remain un-resolved. The pain points of economy, politics and policies need to be addressed as a dire need for the country. However, some political parties are busy in spreading propaganda for self-interest as they want to cash on political instability in their own favor. Because, it is more crucial for them. The Haqeeqi Azaadi concoction is dying with time due to its vagueness and out of sync political orientation which can offer no good to country.
