Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman says he will meet IEA leader during Afghanistan visit

Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, head of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam political party, has said that he will meet Mawlavi Hebatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Islamic Emirate, during his visit to Afghanistan.

In an interview with Radio Mashaal, Fazal-ur-Rehman said that he will try to improve relations between the two countries during this trip to Afghanistan.

He said that he will discuss the issue of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in meeting with the officials of the Islamic Emirate.

“This trip is not for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party. We should consider the interests of Pakistan and Afghanistan. In this regard, I contacted the Pakistani authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country’s authorities, the whole government is in contact with me. They explained Pakistan’s position and demands to me in detail.”

He emphasized that improving bilateral relations and preventing further tension depends on the will of both countries.

The Islamic Emirate has confirmed that Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has been invited to visit Afghanistan.
