2 Public Uprising Forces Killed in Paktia Clashes

The clashes took place in Gardez city as gunmen opened fire on public uprising forces, officials said.

At least two public uprising forces members were killed and four others were wounded in Paktia province on Saturday night, local officials confirmed on Sunday.

The clashes took place in Gardez city, capital of the province, after gunmen opened fire on public uprising forces, said Lotfullah Kamran, acting provincial police chief.

“The Taliban were behind the attack,” he said, adding that the “attackers were wearing burqas.”

However, he did not provide further details.

The Taliban did not immediately comment on the attack.
