2 policemen killed in Jalalabad, doctor wounded in Khost

Two policemen were gunned down in eastern Nangarhar province and a doctor was wounded in a bomb blast in Khost province.

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at two policemen in Jalalabad city and killed them before making their escape good.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers were riding in a Rickshaw and they took away weapons of the slain policemen.

Farid Khan, Nangarhar police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the two policemen were killed in Angoorbagh area of the fifth police district of Jalalabad city at around 1pm on Saturday.

He added the attackers managed to escape but police had launched a manhunt for them.

“Police have started investigating the case and details would later be shared with the media,” the spokesman said.

In another report, a doctor was wounded in a bomb blast in southeastern Khost province.

Dr Mohammad Malyaar was wounded in the blast in Matoon Gulzaar area of Khost city on Saturday.

Malyaar was on his way to the city when came under attack, security officials said, adding that Malyaar’s brother was also wounded in the blast.

The wounded were evacuated to a private clinic in Khost city, where doctors claimed they were in stable condition.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incidents.
